Notes: Legacy is looking to return to the title game after the Lightning’s run of five consecutive 5A titles ended with a semifinal loss against Loveland last year … Legacy junior Haley Smith threw a three-inning no-hitter in the Lightning’s regional win against Prairie View before giving up just one run on four hits to lead the team’s regional title-clinching win against Grandview. Smith also went 4 for 5 with a home run and six RBIs in the two games. Smith leads the Lightning with 35 RBIs … Freshman Emily Taggert is an emerging star for Legacy, having compiled a .478 batting average with 12 extra-base hits and 28 RBIs … Legacy also is receiving huge seasons from senior Shania Leon (.500, six doubles) and junior Celyn Witt (.551, 15 doubles, 19 RBIs) … The Lightning is hitting .425 as a team … Despite losing to Dakota Ridge in the Region 3 title game, Chatfield rebounded with a win against Fruita Monument to earn its state bid … The Chargers’ lineup is anchored by a pair of seniors, Quinn Dentino and Madison Nedved, while sophomore Jessica Jerecki has handled the bulk of Chatfield’s duties in the pitcher’s circle … The winner will play either fourth-seeded Dakota Ridge or 13th-seeded Grand Junction at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Records: Pueblo West 15-7; Broomfield 14-6.
Notes: Senior Shelby Grandt has been Broomfield’s catalyst at the plate (.441 average, team-leading 22 RBIs) and in the pitcher’s circle (11-6, 2.43 earned-run average) but she has had help from a number of up-and-coming stars. That list includes sophomore Hannah Shores (.545 average), freshman Lindsey Malkin (.485, 7 HRs, 26 RBIs) and freshman Taylor Gilmore (.413, 4 HRs, 18 RBIs) … Gilmore hit a dramatic walk-off home run to clinch the Eagles’ regional title-game victory against Silver Creek … The Eagles lost to Berthoud in the first round of last year’s 4A state tournament … Broomfield has won nine of its past 10 games … Pueblo West recorded two wins against Falcon, including one with a state berth on the line, during last week’s 4A Region 5 tournament … The Cyclones’ offense has been led by sophomores Caitlin McCarthy (.465, 21 RBIs) and Megan Moss (.409, 22 RBIs) … The winner will play either 13th-seeded D’Evelyn or fourth-seeded Discovery Canyon at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Records: Silver Creek 15-7; Erie 18-3-1.
Notes: Two of the region’s most consistently successful programs square off with a berth in the 4A quarterfinals on the line … Silver Creek lost to Northern League rival Broomfield in the Region 5 title game on Saturday but rebounded to earn a state berth by defeating Pueblo Central … The Raptors’ balanced offense has produced a .379 team batting average and boasts seven players who have reached double figures in RBIs, including Katelyn Strub (33), Keegan Wergin (32), and Sheyann Ludwig (27) … The Raptors are making their fourth consecutive appearance in the state tournament … Erie, which was defeated by Pueblo East in the semifinals last year, is making its 18th consecutive appearance at state … The Tigers hold state records for the most state tournament games played (59) and state tournament victories (53) … The winner will play either 14th-seeded Thompson Valley or defending state champion Pueblo East at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
(3) Holy Family vs. (6) Burlington or (11) Dolores Huerta

Records: Holy Family 18-2; Burlington 16-5; Dolores Huerta 10-7.
Notes: Holy Family is making its 14th consecutive state appearance but has not reached the title game since 2006. The Tigers were eliminated by Valley in the semifinals last year and lost in the quarterfinals in each of the previous three seasons … Holy Family cruised to the 3A Region 1 title last weekend, defeating Grand Valley and Cedaredge by a combined score of 32-2 … Four players have compiled at least 20 RBIs for Holy Family, including Grace Petersen (25), Tess Cartin (24), Haley Draudt (21), and Kaycie Wood (21) … Cartiin leads the Tigers with 11 extra-base hits with six doubles, three triples and one home run … Burlington and Dolores Huerta play for the right to face the Tigers at 10 a.m. Friday … If Holy Family wins the Tigers will advance to the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
