DALTON NELSON, Frederick football — Having had a PAT blocked by Silver Creek earlier in Friday night’s game, Nelson wasn’t at all fazed as he lined up for perhaps the biggest kick of his young life, a 30-yard attempt that would give the Warriors a key Tri-Valley League victory. His second field goal of the season got tipped at the line but nonetheless squirted over the crossbar with just a few seconds left on the clock, giving Frederick a 31-28 win over the Class 3A No. 1-ranked Raptors.
KENZIE KUDRNA, Erie softball — Hitting a blistering .549 for the season, it’s no surprise Kudrna would have a good string of games every once in a while. Last week, as the Tigers rolled up three wins, she went a combined 7-for-8, stole five bases, scored eight runs and had two triples and two doubles. Three of those extra-base knocks came in one game, a 9-2 win against Roosevelt.
