DAVID SOMMERS, Holy Family football — The Tigers needed a rebound performance in the worst way, and they received an otherworldly one from their senior quarterback in a 48-20 win against Berthoud to improve to 3-1. Sommers rushed for 272 yards on 18 carries — including a 96-yard TD run — and found the end zone five times on the ground. If that was not enough, he completed 15 of 17 pass attempts for 174 yards and another score.

JOELLE BURKHARDT, Boulder volleyball — Boulder vaulted out to a 2-1 Front Range League record last week with wins against Monarch and Horizon, and head coach Angela Sultzer praised Burkhardt as a catalyst. The senior libero tallied 23 digs against Horizon with a 2.5 passing average, and had 13 and 14 digs, respectively, against Loveland and Monarch to wrap up the week. For the season, Burkhardt leads the team with 118 digs with just 16 dig errors.
