DENVER — Finding itself down a goal at halftime and facing the potential 1-3 start to its 2013 campaign, the Boulder soccer team dug deep and rallied to produce a 4-2 win Tuesday night at Mullen.
The Panthers were held scoreless throughout the first 40 minutes of play, but finally began to break through the Mustangs’ defensive line after intermission. Senior Wyeeth Leemon and junior Quin Liebmann both took it upon themselves to turn the Panthers’ fortunes around as each tallied an unassisted goal. Senior Austin Metz then added a third score as Liebmann and sophomore Jack Dooley helped to set him up.
Mullen added a second goal to cut the lead to 3-2 later in the match, but Dooley followed with a score of his own to give BHS breathing room and allow the team to move to .500 on the season.
Boulder has a short turnaround as it travels to Fort Collins on Thursday. That match will kickoff at 4 p.m.
