A FEW NEWS AND NOTES FROM AROUND BROOMFIELD
7th Annual Tiger Fun Run 5K Run/Walk: This Saturday’s Tiger Fun Run is the school’s annual alumni, parent, and community member 5K run/walk event that supports Holy Family’s student athletes. Proceeds will help with the costs of athlete transportation to and from games and events, and postseason play. Walk-up registration is available day of the event. Birdsall up for more honors: Former Broomfield soccer standout Danielle Birdsall, who missed her entire senior season at the University of Northern Colorado in 2012 and was granted a medical hardship from the NCAA for a fifth season this fall, was listed as a candidate for the 2013 senior CLASS Award.
“It is already such an honor to be nominated,” Birdsall said in a press release from UNC. “Making it to the next step really means a lot to me. It is really exciting and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.”
The award, an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Ziegler and pals to host another golf clinic: Former Legacy golf standout Steve Ziegler, who hosted his first golf clinic earlier this month, will have another on Aug. 24-25 from 1-4 at Eagle Trace Gold Course’s Gold Crown Youth Learning Center. Ziegler will team with Ryan Eres and Bryce Babcock to teach the event that was so successful the first time around. For more information call 303-589-5825.
