LONGMONT — After a quiet start the Frederick offense came alive in the third inning and sustained its productivity throughout the remainder of the game, ultimately knocking off Mead in a mercy-rule shortened 13-3 win.
The Warriors were led at the plate by Mae Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs. Other contributions were seen from Cheyenne Hamilton (2-for-2, three runs, three RBIs), Savannah Hall (2-for-4, one run, three RBIs) and Alicia Hernandez (1-for-3, 2 RBIs).
Hernandez also dominated in the pitching circle, allowing just two hits and zero earned runs throughout her five innings of work. She stuck out eight Mavs on the day.
The only blemish on the victory for the Warriors was the four errors they committed in the third inning, allowing Mead to post its three runs. Frederick will have to cut down on its defensive mistakes in order to stay competitive as it gears up for a tougher stretch of scheduling in the coming weeks.
