Peak to Peak’s Belle Morel hopes to lead the Pumas on a run toward a second consecutive Class 3A state championship.

The final set of first-round games among the state girls soccer tournaments finally kick off on Friday. Here is a glance at the matchups for the two BoCoPreps.com-area entrants:

(31) Florence at (2) Peak to Peak

When: Friday, 6 p.m.

Records: Florence 10-4-1; Peak to Peak 11-2-2.

Notes: Peak to Peak begins its defense of its 2012 3A state title against a Florence club that ended the regular season with a 2-2-1 stretch. That run included an 8-0 loss against the tournament’s top seed, The Classical Academy…The Pumas’ Belle Morel is tied for second in 3A and tied for third overall in the state with 28 goals…Morel posted seven goals and seven assists in five state tournament games last year…Morel has received solid support offensively from senior Ivy DeVries (five goals, six assists), junior Madison Corona (two goals, eight assists), and sophomore Brianna Wetmore (four goals, three assists)…Since a 7-6 loss at Frontier Academy in the third game of the season on March 16, a defeat that dropped the Pumas to 1-2, Peak to Peak has gone 10-0-2 while allowing only three goals…The winner will play either 15th-seeded Roaring Fork or 18th-seeded Front Range Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peak to Peak.

(24) Resurrection Christian at (9) Holy Family

When: Friday, 4 p.m. at Five Star Stadium.

Records: Resurrection Christian 6-6-1; Holy Family 6-5-1.

Notes: Holy Family scored 33 goals this season but 26 of those occurred in three games — a 13-0 win against Manual, a 7-0 win against Bishop Machebeuf, and a 6-0 win against Lutheran. That means in the Tigers’ other nine games they scored just seven goals…Senior Maddie Kuzik has led Holy Family’s offense with eight goals and three assists…Junior Kendall Russell leads Holy Family with seven assists. Sophomore Taylor Johnson and freshman Olivia Bartoletti have recorded five assists apiece for the Tigers…Holy Family did not score a goal in its final two regular season games, which included a scoreless tie against Kent Denver and a 2-0 loss against Peak to Peak…The winner will face either eighth-seeded The Academy or 25th-seeded James Irwin on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Five Star.
