Some athletes sign national letters of intent as a junior. Others elect to use the early signing period in the fall. A larger handful signs on National Signing Day in February.
But there’s no rule that indicates an athlete has to rush the process.
Two Centaurus seniors didn’t make their intentions official until Friday. In a ceremony at the school, basketball guard Anna Hubbell signed with UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs) and volleyball middle blocker Katie Wirth with Connecticut College.
Hubbell was a large piece of a Warriors squad that reached the quarterfinals in successive seasons after a 17-year drought. The 6-foot Wirth was a standout was one of two captains of the volleyball team.
