BOULDER — Dominique Collier’s trademark smile had two chips in it Friday night.

The junior star from Denver East endured a scary moment in the Class 5A boys basketball semifinals when he tripped late in the game and landed face-first on the floor. Collier laid on the court for a moment and went to the bench for 40 seconds before returning to make an athletic, spinning layup to put the finishing touches on the Angels’ 58-45 win over Legend.

“I just messed up my whole mouth, everything,” said Collier, who was planning on going to the dentist immediately after the game to repair two chipped teeth. “I hit the floor and my teeth just bounced on the floor. It was a weird kind of feeling in my tooth.”
