BOULDER SWEEPS BADMINTON CROWNS
Boulder High swept all five titles last weekend to clinch its third team state badminton championship in a row.
Beni Mahat won the boys singles title, while Kate Mooney won the girls crown. Mooney also teamed with Kanako Hokama for the girls double title and Sean Girodo for the mixed doubles title.
Girodo also won the boys doubles title with partner Josh Singh.
CHSAA ADDING UNIFIED GAME TO CHAMPIONSHIP LINEUP
Prior to the 4A and 5A state basketball championship games on Saturday at the Coors Events Center, CHSAA has added a Special Olympics Unified Basketball Exhibition game.
The game between teams from Douglas County and Thomas Jefferson high schools tips off at noon.
Special Olympics Unified Sports is a global program that encompasses male and female athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams to develop friendships and a better understanding of each other’s capabilities.
— Miles Havlick, a 2008 Boulder High grad, won his second career national title over the weekend at the NCAA Skiing Championships. Havlick took the title in the 20-kilometer freestyle Nordic race to lead Utah to a second-place team finish. The finish came after a runner-up finish in the 10K classical race. He won the title in the 20K classical in 2012.
