BOYS

EVAN KIHN, Broomfield basketball — Kihn helped lead the Eagles into the Great 8 of the Class 4A state tournament with a pair of standout all-around performances in wins against Montrose and Windsor. Kihn got Broomfield off on the right foot in the postseason by collecting 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals against Montrose. Kihn followed that effort by recording 23 points and seven assists against Windsor. In the two games, Kihn went 10 for 16 from the field while making 16 of 19 free throws.

 

GIRLS

LINDSEY CHAVEZ, Holy Family basketball — Chavez led the Tigers to wins against Faith Christian, Jefferson Academy, and Bishop Machebeuf to win the Metro League district tournament and earn the No. 2 seed in the Class 3A state tournament. Chavez got better as the district tourney went on, scoring 16 points against Faith Christian and adding 17 in the win against Jefferson Academy and 28 vs. Bishop Machebeuf. Chavez made 20 of 33 shots during the three wins while also recording 10 steals.
