LAFAYETTE — Sophomore Morgan Powers scored 10 points to lead the Alexander Dawson girls basketball team to a 44-32 victory over Lyons on Thursday night in a Class 2A District 7 consolation semifinal game.

The victory boosts Dawson (9-11) into an 11 a.m. Saturday game against either Union Colony or Resurrection Christian for fifth place in the tournament at Mountain View High School. The winner of that game advances to regionals next week.

Lyons saw its season come to an end with Thursday’s loss with a final record of 2-20.

DAWSON BOYS ELIMINATE LONGMONT CHRISTIAN

LAFAYETTE — Robby Keown scored 13 points and Tom Walker added 12 as the Alexander Dawson boys basketball team rolled past Longmont Christian 59-43 in a 2A District 7 consolation semifinal on Thursday night.

The Mustangs (13-8) advance to face either Lyons or Union Colony in the fifth-place game at 12:30 p.m. at Mountain View High School. The winner advances to regionals next week.

Longmont Christian, led by 10 points from Cole Moffitt on Thursday, saw its season end with a record of 10-11.

HOLY FAMILY GIRLS REACH METRO TITLE GAME

DENVER — Holy Family outscored Jefferson Academy 35-9 over the second and third periods to cruise to a 50-24 victory in the 3A Metro League semifinals.

Holy Family 16-5 will play in Saturday night’s 7:30 p.m. championship game at Manual High School against Machebeuf, which upset No. 1 Kent Denver 49-45 in the other semifinal.

HOLY FAMILY DOWNS PEAK TO PEAK

DENVER — Holy Family’s boys basketball team topped Peak to Peak 52-43 in the 3A Metro League semifinals.

The second-seeded Tigers will face top-seeded Kent Denver in the 6 p.m. championship game on Saturday at Manual High School.

No. 6 Peak to Peak faces No. 4 Colorado Academy in Saturday’s 3 p.m. third-place game.

The top five teams in the league advance to the 32-team state tournament.
