JAIME RAMOS-VEGA, Longmont wrestling — The junior was the individual standout for the Trojans at the Class 4A Region 2 tournament, capturing the regional title at 195 pounds to earn his second consecutive berth in the state tournament. Ramos-Vega earned his crown in style, ignoring a 4-4 tie late in the title bout to pin Weld Central’s Logan Longworth with 8 seconds remaining. Ramos-Vega helped lead the Trojans to a third-place finish in the team standings, and he will be one of five wrestlers representing Longmont at state.

CARISSA CURTIS, Skyline basketball — Curtis helped the Falcons overcome a sudden rash of injuries to post victories against Roosevelt and Erie. Curtis recorded 11 points and eight rebounds to help lead the win against Roosevelt, but she was even more impressive against Erie. With Skyline missing two of its biggest contributors due to injury, Curtis helped fill the void by scoring 13 points while also adding four assists, four steals, and three blocked shots.
