JONAH CHARNICK, Boulder basketball — The senior forward turned in a pair of high-scoring performances as the Panthers split games against Fossil Ridge and Legacy. In a heart-breaking one-point loss against Fossil Ridge, Charnick made six 3-pointers before finishing with 20 points and seven rebounds. Charnick was even more impressive while recording a double-double to lead a victory against Legacy, recording 21 points and 12 rebounds. Charnick made 7 of 11 2-point field goal attempts against the Lightning.
GIRLS
LACEY SMITH, Fairview swimming — Smith was the individual standout as the Knights recorded an impressive third-place finish in the team standings at the Class 5A state meet. Smith recorded a pair of top-eight finishes in individual events, placing fourth in the 100 freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle. Smith’s final time of 51.79 seconds in the 100 freestyle was the second-best mark in that event in school history. Smith, who will continue her career at Northwestern, also anchored Fairview’s fifth-place effort in the 400 freestyle relay and the Knights’ second-place performance in the 200 freestyle relay.
