AUSTIN SPARKS, Fairview basketball — The senior wasted little time shaking off the rust after regaining his eligibility in the wake of his transfer from Valor Christian. The 6-foot-7 center dominated the post while leading the Knights to three consecutive wins, beginning his week by compiling 31 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots in an overtime win against Fossil Ridge. Sparks followed that effort with a 24-point, 12-rebound effort against Loveland and capped his big week with a 15-point game against Rocky Mountain.


KATIE CHAVEZ, Holy Family basketball — The Tigers’ standout freshman turned in a pair of stellar all-around games while leading Holy Family to key Metro League victories against St. Mary’s Academy and Peak to Peak. Against St. Mary’s Academy, Chavez recorded 15 points while adding six assists and six steals. Chavez keyed a comeback against Peak to Peak by scoring 13 of her 18 points after halftime while also contributing five assists, four rebounds, and a pair of steals.
