Luis Chavez has accepted the girls soccer head coach position at Skyline High School.

Chavez enjoyed a roundly successful season this past fall during his first campaign as the coach of the Falcons’ boys program, leading Skyline to a 9-5-2 record and a berth in the Class 4A state tournament. Chavez replaces Kevin Puckett, who spent 12 seasons at the helm of the Falcons’ girls program. Skyline’s girls team compiled an 8-7-1 mark last spring before getting eliminated by Air Academy in the first round of the 4A state tournament.

Skyline’s girls team expects to return three of its top five scorers, including Deandra Elcock (seven goals, four assists), Jordan Barnes (six goals, five assists), and Hannah Truesdale (six goals, four assists).

“I’m excited about the challenge and looking forward to the whole challenge of leading both teams,” Chavez said.
