BROOMFIELD — Broomfield High School football coach Gary Davies is on paid administrative leave for undisclosed reasons, a Boulder Valley School District official confirmed Saturday night.
The long-time coach and math teacher — a BHS graduate in his 25th season leading the Class 4A top-ranked Eagles — was placed on leave earlier this week, BVSD director of communications Briggs Gamblin said. Gamblin did not specify why since the matter is a personnel issue.
“We don’t discuss employee personnel, health or disciplinary issues as a matter of district policy,” he said.
Davies said he could not comment on why he was put on leave when contacted Saturday night, but did express hope that he would return to his teaching and coaching positions soon.
It is not known how long the coach will be on leave, Gamblin said.
Defensive coordinator Tom Burgesser stood in for Davies Saturday during the Eagles’ 31-22 win at Montbello. Broomfield is 7-1 on the season and faces rival and third-ranked Monarch on Friday.
