Cross country: Holy Family girls run away with regional crown

LITTLETON — The Holy Family girls cross country squad blew away the competition at the Class 3A Region 3 race Thursday at Clement Park, placing four runners in the top eight and winning with an overall score of 20.

Lindsey Chavez and Danielle Medearis led the pack of Tigers, finishing second and third with times of 19:44 and 20:03, respectively. Teammates Olivia Bartoletti and Emma Stokes weren’t far behind, placing seventh and eighth.

Peak to Peak did its best to keep pace, thanks in large part to Dallas Frisbie’s 19:41 time and first-place finish. The Pumas finished second as a team, registering 35 points on the day.

On the boys side, Peak to Peak came away with the victory behind the running of two Rodenburgs. Riley Rodenburg led the way, placing fifth with a time of 16:50.

But Justin Rodenburg was right on his heels, finishing just nine seconds later, good for sixth place.

Holy Family’s Erich Hixson finished first overall with a time of 16:07, but the remaining Tigers were unable to keep pace as HFHS finished fifth as a team.
