Below is how I voted this week in the Denver Post media and coaches football poll that will be released on Monday, Oct. 8. I vote in 5A, 4A, 3A and 1A.

As has been the norm this season, there’s shakeup in 5A, with No. 1 Chaparral getting knocked off. ThunderRidge is the only 5A team undefeated within the state’s borders, thus the Grizzlies are my No. 1. Their only loss was to a California team, and they’ve got impressive wins over Ralston Valley and Grandview.

Not a lot changed in 4A and 1A, though Ponderosa keeps making a solid case for No. 1.

In Class 3A, Rifle rolled in a top-3 showdown over Palisade. But while many people have had Rifle No. 1 for several weeks now, I had Palisade. I’m moving Silver Creek there now. Rifle has been crushing its foes for sure. But the Palisade win was Rifle’s first over a 3A foe with a winning record. Silver Creek, I believe, has the stronger resume right now, with wins over Holy Family, Northridge and Frederick, all teams that figure to make the playoffs.
