Prep notebook: Softball regionals on deck; local figure skaters shine


With boys golfers wrapping up their season on Tuesday and boys tennis regionals in full swing this week, softball will also soon join the postseason fray.

Saturday is the final day of the regular season, and the Colorado High School Activities Association will release regional brackets on Sunday.

Regional tournaments will be played Oct. 13.


A pair of area figure skaters placed among the top 10 in their divisions United States Figure Skating’s National Solo Dance Championships in Colorado Springs recently.

Competing for the Rocky Mountain Figure Skating Club based in Westminster, Abbey Isaacson, a sophomore at Alexander Dawson, placed third in the pre-gold pattern dances at World Arena after winning her qualifying round.

After placing second in her qualifying round, Alexandra Matthews, a junior at Niwot, took seventh in the pre-silver pattern dances.

Also competing at nationals was Monarch student Lauren Ortiz-Hunt, who placed seventh in qualifying in pre-bronze pattern dance.
