BRIGHTON — With a second-place finish in Thursday’s league match at Riverdale Knolls Golf Course, the Boulder High golf team clinched the Front Range League season team title. The Panthers tallied a total of 1,828 strokes over the course of the six-week regular season, besting runner up Fairview by just two strokes and third-place finisher Fossil Ridge by 39 strokes.

“I’m really happy for the guys,” coach Steve Disbrow said. “It’s a huge accomplishment to play the way they have, because the Front Range League is one of the more competitive leagues out there.” In addition to its success as a team, BHS had three individuals finish in the top six of the league.

Grant Rogers placed second with 359 strokes, Grant Dinkel was fifth at 368 and Alec Poorman came in sixth with 372 strokes.

Boulder must now prepare to face a strong field in the Class 5A Northern Regional, which is Sept. 21 in Loveland and will determine which Panthers qualify for the state tournament.

“We’ll see what happens (at the regional),” Disbrow said. “I’m really pleased with the focus we’ve shown. The guys are certainly happy with what they have done to this point, but we’re also working toward bigger things.”
