CLIFF GRASSMICK
Nederland football coach Aaron Jones, right, is entering his seventh season leading the Panthers.

COACH: Aaron Jones (7th year, 20-34 record).

LAST YEAR: 2-7.

RETURNING STARTERS: Joe Chapman (Sr., C/LB, 5-10, 190), Torin Perret (Sr., OL/DL, 6-1, 205), Holden Reecer (Sr., RB/LB, 6-1, 190), Connor Steele (Sr., WR/DB, 6-2, 175), Wyatt Wales (Jr., RB/DB, 5 -10, 165), Dillon Weaver (Sr., WR/DB/K, 6-0, 170).

OTHERS TO WATCH: Chris Clemmer (Jr., OL/DE, 6-2, 205), Connor Demo (So., OL/DL, 5-9, 250), Adam O’Melia (Jr. RB/DB, 5-9, 160), Patrick Parker (So., G/LB, 5-9, 170), Noah Ridnell (So., RB/LB, 6-1 185), Griffin Steele (So., OL/DL , 6-2, 190), Michael Wood (Fr., QB/DB, 5-10, 165).

COLLEGE PROSPECTS: Reecer, Steele, Weaver.

MUST-SEE GAME: Sept. 29 at Denver Christian.

STRENGTHS: While Jones’ record may appear ordinary, consider the Panthers were 0-18 in the two seasons prior to his arrival. They have the right man in charge.

WEAKNESSES: While the Panthers’ core is solid, depth is an issue. They will have 18 or 19 dressed for their first game and will peak out around 25 players.
