Baseball: Orioles draft former Skyline star Bleeker in 37th round

For the second year in a row, former Skyline star Derrick Bleeker was drafted in the 37th round of the MLB first-year player draft.

The Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday selected Bleeker, who is hitting .262 as a regular outfielder for the Arkansas Razorbacks this season.

Bleeker, a 2009 SHS grad, went to Arkansas out of high school before transferring to Howard Junior College. From there he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 37th round a year ago, but opted to return to Arkansas instead.

The junior, who will help Arkansas into an NCAA super-regional series at Baylor this weekend, has one year of college eligibility left if he chooses not to sign with the Orioles.

Bleeker could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
