FREDERICK — The family of Carlos Flores, the former Frederick football player who was severely injured in a car wreck last week, received some good news on Tuesday.

Flores, who suffered a spinal injury that has cost him the use of his legs, will be transferred from the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland to Craig Hospital in Denver on Wednesday morning. Flores has been at the Medical Center of the Rockies since he suffered his one-car accident on April 23.

Craig Hospital is a facility that is renowned for its specialized work in rehabilitating patients from catastrophic spinal cord injuries.

Friends and family members already have started fundraising efforts to help with Flores’ long term care. Donations can be made via checks made out to the Love4Los Foundation and sent to Adams Bank & Trust, 8308 Colorado Blvd, Firestone, CO 80504.
