Boys peak performers

Nate McGinley, Centaurus, boys basketball: The senior scored from everywhere, totaling 26 points in a win over conference-rival Silver Creek.

Brandon Little, Broomfield, boys basketball: His 20 points helped the Eagles breeze by Mountain View 84-49.

Girls peak performers

Kathryn Schell, Longmont, girls basketball: The sophomore hit six field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, totaling 14 points against Niwot.

Notable

Running the point in his first varsity start, Centaurus senior Trevor Schrader provided some much-needed ball-handling, had five points and made eight assists to lead the Warriors past Silver Creek and out of a tie for first place in the 4A Northern Conference.

By far its highest total this season, the Longmont girls basketball team scored 27 points in the second half of a conference win over Niwot. “We came out a little slow, but once they got going they really played a great game and had fun,” Trojans head coach Jay Darien said.

As decided at Monday night’s wrestling seeding meeting, Mead’s 152-pounder Kyle Couch and heavyweight Nick Testroet will each have the top seed in his bracket at the 3A Region 2 tournament this weekend. They are the school’s first wrestlers to claim top seeds at the regional tournament.
