The snowstorm that moved in on Thursday night and dumped more than a foot of snow in the area caused the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley school districts to cancel school, and thus, all athletic events for Friday.
That includes events both home and away.
Adams 12 School District is also closed today.
With intermittent snow expected to continue into Saturday, events that day could be affected as well.
“We’ll see how the weather looks tomorrow and the forecast for Saturday,” SVVSD athletic director Rob Berry said late Thursday night.
Both the Northern League and Tri-Valley League swim meets, originally slated to begin Friday with prelims, have been condensed into one-day meets on Saturday. The Front Range League swim meet, also originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Mountain View High School, will be condensed into a Saturday-only event.
The Tri-Valley League meet in Greeley begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and runs throughout the day.
Berry said that, with the state meet next weekend, the conference meets would be canceled altogether if they can’t be held Saturday.
“If we can get swimming in Saturday, then everything else will be okay,” Berry said.
