Those who remember Chaundra Sewell from three of Broomfield High School’s five Class 4A state girls basketball championships recall a tenacious, aggressive and potent forward. Apparently, things haven’t changed for the former Eagle in Laramie, Wyo.
The University of Wyoming junior came up with her career-best offensive showing Nov. 17 in the Cowgirls’ 69-61 win over Chadron State College. The forward recorded 30 points against Chadron, but that wasn’t everything to her game. Sewell also finished the night with 10 rebounds for her second career double-double.
Sewell took control of the game midway through the second half, breaking a 36-36 stalemate by tearing off 12 points to give the Cowgirls a 48-40 advantage with 8:33 left to play.
The night also made Sewell Wyoming’s top scorer and rebounder thus far this season. The forward has 45 points and 19 rebounds.
