Braden Hitchcock will help lead the Longmont Trojans into the Class 4A state playoffs on Saturday at home against Falcon.

A year ago, a Week 10 bye served the Longmont Trojans well.

After an up and down 6-4 regular season, the Trojans walked into the first round of the Class 4A playoffs and upset No. 2 Monarch 42-24.

LHS isn’t the underdog this season, but fresh legs this time of year figure to serve the No. 5 Trojans well nonetheless. Their first-round game against No. 12 Falcon on Saturday has been voted by readers as the BoCoPreps.com game of the week.

Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Everly-Montgomery Field.

LHS (10-0) has reached at least the state quarterfinals three years in a row, with a state runner-up run in 2009. Falcon (7-3) is a relative newcomer to the 4A field. The Falcons lost in the first round last year and before that hadn’t reached the postseason since finishing as state runner-up in 3A in 2007.

The LHS-Falcon game got 18.99 percent of the game of the week vote. Fairview-Columbine had 17.72 percent of the vote and Palmer Ridge Silver Creek 16.46 percent.
