Nederland High’s football game on Saturday against Resurrection Christian has been moved to Boulder’s Recht Field.
Game time remains 1 p.m.
The Panthers’ own artificial turf field remains unplayable after the Tuesday evening/Wednesday snowstorm that dumped over a foot of the white stuff in Nederland.
Nederland athletic director Bob Billings said he, players, coaches and parents worked on Thursday to try and clear patches of the field in hopes that the sun would warm up those dry spots and accelerate the melting in other areas. But the high winds the small mountain town is known for foiled the efforts, filling in many of the cleared areas overnight.
“It’s unfortunate for our seniors, their last game,” Billings said. “There’s just too much snow.”
Billings said he’d made arrangements with Boulder High officials a month ago in case such circumstances were to arise late in the season so that the Panthers wouldn’t have to lose any games completely.
Saturday’s game is the season finale for the Panthers (2-7, 0-4 1A Metro North League). Front Range Christian enters the contest 3-5 overall. NHS running back Joe Moctezuma leads the area with 1,277 yards rushing.
