For the past few years, Longmont and Wheat Ridge have been two of the best football teams in Class 4A.
They’ve taken turns beating each other the past two years, as well.
On Friday night, the two 4A power will reunite in a non-conference game at Everly-Montgomery Field. The battle between the host Trojans (3-0), ranked No. 3 in 4A, and the visiting Farmers (1-1), ranked No. 8, is the Times-Call and BoCoPreps.com Game of the Week.
Readers of BoCoPreps.com have a chance every week to vote on the Game of the Week. Friday’s football game between Broomfield and Monarch took top honors this week. Among St. Vrain school, however, the Longmont vs. Wheat Ridge game had top billing.
Longmont is off to a blistering start, outscoring its three opponents by a combined 131-28. The Trojans have won all three games by at least 32 points.
Wheat Ridge opened the season with an impressive win over Ponderosa, but fell to a good Castle View team, 28-13, last week.
In 2009, Longmont knocked off the Farmers in the Class 4A state semifinals. A year ago, Wheat Ridge returned the favor with a 62-37 regular season win. Wheat Ridge went on to finish second in state.

Greeley Central (0-3) at Niwot (1-1), 7 p.m. today: The Cougars would be 2-0 if they didn’t have to forfeit the opener against Adams City. They hope to improve to 2-1 with a win in the conference opener.
Silver Creek (1-1) at Northridge (0-2), 7 p.m. today: Silver Creek bounced back from a loss in the opener to thump Frederick last week. Now, the Raptors look to keep the momentum going.
Fort Morgan (1-1) at Erie (1-1), 7 p.m. Friday: Erie looks to get back on track after a loss to Holy Family a week ago.
Frederick (1-1) at Berthoud (2-0), 7 p.m. Friday: Berthoud is off to a great start, but Frederick will be hoping to rebound from last week’s loss and prove its strength.
Vail Christian (1-1) at Longmont Christian (1-0), 7 p.m. Friday: The host Warriors had an impressive debut last week and look for a second-straight win as Vail Christian comes to town.
Yuma (1-1) at Lyons (1-1), 7 p.m. Friday: Lyons pounded Estes Park last week, but figures to get a tougher test against Yuma, which is one of the better teams in Class 1A.
Skyline (0-2) at Windsor (0-2), 7 p.m. Friday: Still looking for their first win, the Falcons made a tough trip to Windsor, which always plays well at home.
Mead (0-2) at University (2-0), 1 p.m. Saturday: The visiting Mavericks won’t have it easy as they go for their first win. University has outscored two opponents by a combined 58-12.
