The votes are tallied, and it’s really no surprise which game has been tabbed the BoCoPreps.com game of the week by readers this week.
The Broomfield-Monarch rivalry might not have a long history. But it’s an eventful one full of meaningful games between two perennial contenders in Class 4A.
The two square off at 7 p.m. Friday at Broomfield’s Elizabeth Kennedy Stadium.
The game won the BoCoPreps.com reader voting easily this week, grabbing 61 of the 137 votes (44.53 percent).
The Longmont-Wheat Ridge football game was second with 31 votes, while Longmont-Silver Creek volleyball (20 votes), Frederick-Erie softball (19) and Lyons-Yuma football (6) rounded out the voting.
Broomfield leads the all-time series with Monarch 5-4, and won last year’s matchup 42-19 thanks largely to a big night from now-graduated kick returner Trent Ireland.
The game is once again a matchup of top-10 foes, with Monarch coming in ranked No. 2, while Broomfield is No. 6.
