Approaching 300 wins as a girls basketball coach at her alma mater, Niwot's Terri Ward was bestowed a special honor on Tuesday as she was selected as part of the Colorado High School Activities Association's 30th Hall of Fame Class.
More so than for her resume as a coach, the CHSAA will be honoring Ward as a significant contributor to the state's prep sports scene — particularly in her life-long devotion to promoting young women in athletics and coaching.
Ward has been heavily involved in Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports, an organization that has grown immensely over the years and that has transformed the state's history in terms of equal representation for girls sports. The CCGS also sponsors scholarships for college athletics and supports all-state games for softball, basketball and volleyball.
The CHSAA Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 23rd at the Marriott-Denver Tech Center off Interstate-25 and Orchard Road. Also part of the 30th class are Scott Elarton (Lamar), Jack Klapper (Denver East), Bart Stevens (Flagler), Patty Childress (Otis, Palisade, Grandview) and Morton Dickson (Woodland Park).
