The Skyline girls basketball team saw a three-game win streak snapped when it allowed 61 points to Vista PEAK on Saturday. But, with a new week came a new-look Falcons defense.

At Niwot on Tuesday evening, the Falcons stifled the Cougars in a 49-27 victory that pushed Skyline's early-season record to 4-2. Off to a good start after a 9-15 campaign in 2017-18, the Falcons held the Cougars to just two points in the first quarter and only allowed double digits in one of the four frames — that being the second.

Skyline led 19-14 at halftime.

Offensively for the Falcons, junior Ashayla Powers scored a career-high 26 points to lead the way. With Powers averaging 11.8 points per game, the Falcons now have three players scoring in double figures through six games including Alyssa McKrola (18.2 ppg) and Lindrey Schendel (10.8).

The Skyline girls will play at Silver Creek next Tuesday. Niwot will host Erie on Friday.
