KYLE COUCH, Mead wrestling -- Couch made history at the Class 4A state wrestling tournament by becoming the first Mavericks grappler to take home a state title. The junior fell behind 2-0 early in the 182-pound championship bout against Trenton Gustafson, but Couch dominated his opponent the rest of the way, ultimately recording two escapes and a takedown to post a 4-2 decision. Mead, who finished the season with a sparkling 47-1 record, helped Mead to finish 14th in the team standings.

EMILIE REMBERT, Silver Creek basketball -- Rembert turned in a pair of solid all-around games to help lead the Raptors to wins against Mountain View and Longmont. Against Mountain View, Rembert made 5 of 6 field goals as well as 5 of 6 free throws, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals. In a cross-town rivalry win against Longmont, Rembert went 8 for 11 from the field while posting 17 points, seven assists, four rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals. The fourth-seeded Raptors open 4A tournament play against fifth-seeded Valor Christian Friday at D'Evelyn.
