GODBY SETS RECORDS AT PAN AM TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Monarch High grad Madalyn Godby broke a pair of individual national records at the Pan American Continental Track Championships last week in Mexico City.

Godby won a pair of bronze medals over the five-day competition, opening with an American record time of 34.300 seconds in the 500-meter time trial and then notching a 10.933 to take third in the 200 flying start time trial.

Godby was also part of the United States' fourth-place women's team sprint. She took fifth in the individual sprint and seventh in keirin.

-- Former Broomfield tennis state champion Brandon Lupo was named the Big Sky Conference men's player of the week. The Northern Colorado Bear won a pair of No. 1 singles matches over the weekend, topping Maryland-Baltimore County's Justin Carter and Air Force's Grant Taylor, the latter coming in come-from-behind fashion.

-- Tyler Carpenter, a 2011 Erie High grad, was presented his first collegiate letter recently for contributions as a sophomore defensive lineman for Luther College last fall.
