The Boulder boys basketball team got off to a good start with a season-opening win over Chatfield but seemingly nothing has gone their way since then.

On Monday night, the Panthers (1-8) fell 68-58 at home to the visiting Ralston Valley Mustangs (6-4) and now haven't tasted victory in a full three weeks.

The Panthers, who have battled a list of injuries that includes a season-ending ACL injury to last year's leading scorer Caleb Wehmuller, have lost eight straight since winning their season opener. They entered Monday night's game having opened the season against eight opponents with a combined record of 40-17, including the current CHSAANow.com 5A Nos. 2 and 6, respectively, in Mountain Vista and ThunderRidge.

The Panthers trailed the Mustangs by a score of 31-19 at halftime. Senior Jackson Tanner led Boulder with 15 points.

The Boulder boys will play Bear Creek (7-2) on Wednesday before getting a couple weeks off for winter break. The Panthers will return to action on Jan. 4 when they travel to face Fort Collins for their first Front Range League game.
