BOULDER -- Top-ranked Shining Mountain predictably routed struggling Gilpin County 82-18 on Thursday night.

Inspired after their five seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony emceed by coach Enoch Miller, the Lions leapt to a 36-10 halftime lead, then blanked the Eagles 26-0 in the third quarter.

"In a game like this, we try to score the ball the way we want to -- things we would try to do against a better team," said Lions senior Andrew Bremner, who scored 15 points. "We just try to take things slow, run our plays and try different defenses."

Colin Cantwell led the Lions (16-1, 7-1) with 20 points and Alex Beal added 19.

Gilpin County (2-16, 1-7) was led by freshman Chase Boulter, who scored all but six of the Eagles' points.
