The trial and tribulations of Matt Lynch's recruitment journey could be made into a made-for-TV movie.

It had all the drama that would make producers drool.

That's why Wednesday's signing day, in a packed auditorium at Legacy, was such a relief.

"It's been a long recruiting process and to finally have be over and done with and to be heading out to UCLA here soon shows it has all paid off," said Lynch, who verbally committed to the Bruins over the summer and will head to Westwood in March after graduating from Legacy after the fall semeter.

Lynch originally gave his verbal commitment to Jim McElwain and the CSU Rams after his sophomore season, but then McElwain bolted for Florida. Incoming CSU coach Mike Bobo and his staff were all set to honor the original agreement, but Lynch wanted to explore his options and found a good fit with the Bruins.

"I'm totally blessed with where I ended up and honestly it is the best place for me," he said. "It's a good fit."

Lynch was one of 19 Lightning to make it official on Wednesday afternoon. Of note were: Aaron Hurtado (soccer at Oregon State), Syndey Brookstein (swimming at Denver) and wrestlers Ryan Deakin (Northwestern) and Matt Hebel (St. Cloud State).

Also making it official was Ryan Wood, who will join the Dallas Baptist bass fishing team.
