Coach: Dawn Gaffin
Record (tournament seed): 18-3 (Class 5A No. 3 seed)
First round opponent: No. 14 ThunderRidge (17-5)
Outlook: Legacy enters state on the heels of a dominating regional performance, and the Lightning bring a scintillating mix of power, speed and defense into their game against the Grizzlies. In addition to the not-surprising efforts of Trisha Cook (.594 average, 10 home runs), Lauren Strathearn (.583 average) and Ciarra Nelson (.529, 9 HR), LHS has seen plenty of contribution from sophomores Kaitlyn Strachan (.568, 6 HR) and Riley Olson (.494 average, 34 runs) to help LHS keep its potent offense going strong. Hannah Farley, another sophomore, has whiffed 98 batters in 87 innings on her way to 14 wins while Isabella Kelly has become a factor once again. In ThunderRidge, Legacy is facing a defensively sound team that finished tied for first place in the uber-competitive Continental League. The Grizzlies' Rachel Bean is 15-5 with a 2.90 earned-run average and 124 strikeouts.
