Class 4A, first round

Kickoff: Saturday, 1 p.m., District 20 Stadium (Liberty High School, Colorado Springs)

Quick hits: Saturday's playoff matchup down in the Springs represents another rematch of an earlier season game, with Monarch squeaking out a 14-7 win back on September 8 ... That game was a defensive tussle with both teams finishing with less than 200 yards of offense ... Rampart won the right to host by winning the Pikes Peak League at 5-0, and the Rams have outscored foes 325-140 overall ... The ball touches a lot of hands at RHS, but Keion Cross, Jared Behm, Chris Yoo and Jackson Beale each have 400-plus yards and 23 combined TD's ... An aggressive RHS defense has 27 team sacks ... After one 100-plus yard rushing game through seven weeks, MoHi's Cole Polluconi has three straight 150-plus yard games including a season-most 224 on 37 carries last week against Greeley Central ... Defensively, MHS has racked up 13 interceptions while Ben Cole and Trey Storm have wreaked havoc along the line with eight combined sacks and four fumble recoveries ... Monarch's defense has allowed just 49 points the past three games.

Bottom line: Both teams will look back on the early game against each other and know they've grown since then, so more points could be expected this go-round. For Monarch, the playoff experience on the roster should come in handy.
