WINDSOR -- Michael Silva knew exactly what he was going to do.

And it was no shock to the rest of his Skyline Falcons, who had got to the overtime session at No. 5 Windsor with a brilliant fourth quarter comeback.

After Windsor scored first in overtime and kicked the extra point to go up 56-49, Silva knew he was going to go for two, the win and put themselves in the drivers seat for an unprecedented Northern League title.

Why not? The offense was cooking.

It took a special play from Windsor's Bryce Kellum to beak up Nate McGregor's pass and it was the difference for the Wizards, who hung on for an exhausting 56-55 win on Friday night.

"I just told the boys that if we come to this place and beat these guys, we can beat anybody in the state," said Silva, whose No. 10 Falcons drop to 7-2 overall and 2-2 in the league. "We didn't do that, but if we can come here and compete the way we did, we know we can compete with anybody in the state too.

"Now we got to go take care of business nest week (at Mountain View) and get in the tournament and you never know, we could end up right back here."

Windsor, up 35-20 after a wild first half, stretched its lead to 42-20 on the first Drive of the second half that culminated in a Noah Montegue 1 yard run.

The Falcons of old might have folded up the tents and gone home. But these Falcons grew up right before everyone's eyes.

Skyline rallied behind quarterback Nate McGregor for one more score in the third to get within 42-27 and more importantly a two possession game.

The first score of the fourth saw McGregor - who finished 18-27 for 266 and 4TDs - hit Kyle West for a 36 yard score. A blocked extra point kept it a two possession game at 42-33.

Windsor answered right back on a Montegue 91 yard run and with 5:47 to play things looked bleak for the Falcons.

"The boys played their hearts out and I love them and I'm proud of them," Silva said.

McGregor scored on a 1 yard run with 3:29 to play and then ran in the conversion to make it a 49-41 game.

They left it up to their defense, which had been shredded for over 500 yards on the ground, and they came up huge. They made a stop and got the ball back with 1:45 to play and 75 yards to go.

McGregor hit West - who finished with 11 catches for 152 yards - several times on the drive and ultimately hooked up with Jack Wathen for a 4-yard score with 15.7 seconds to go. He went back to West for the tying 2-point conversion.

Jeremy Hollingsworth finished with 234 yards rushing on 30 carries for the Falcons.

"We are trying to get in the playoffs for the first time and I thought we got hosed out of it last year ," Silva said. "We can't falter because of this loss or anything else. It big and we have to go jockey for position for a chance to win games in the playoffs."
