CREW TEAM, MOUNTAIN BIKERS TAKE HONORS

Mountain bike and crew teams from Boulder have taken home some impressive honors.

The Colorado High School Cycling League wrapped up its season recently with its fourth and final race of the season in Fruita. Boulder edged Fairview in the season-long coed series standings for the championship. Fairview's Ksenia Lepikhina took third in the girls season standings, while Boulder's Michael Dessau was second on the boys side.

Last weekend at the Frostbite Regatta in Wichita, Kan., meanwhile, the Boulder-based Colorado Junior Crew women's eight placed second and the women's four third competing against various club and college teams from around the Midwest. Members of the women's eight squad were Anneliese Bruening, Carolyn Monette, Natalia Robinson, Sally Gerster, Mina Anderburg, Kayla McCullough, Hannah Wolf, Aurelia Casarubius and coxwain Leah Trumble. Members of the four were Bruening, Monette, Robinson, Casarubius and coxswain Trumble.


WINTER PRACTICES ON DECK

The first official day of practice for winter sports, including boys and girls basketball, wrestling, girls swimming and ice hockey, is Friday.

The first day of competition isn't far behind. Winter teams can begin competing on Nov. 28, the Wednesday after Thanksgiving.
