The Fairview boys tennis team entered Thursday's Class 5A Region 2 tournament facing Mountain Vista in the title matches at six of seven positions.
And given that Mountain Vista had unseated Regis for the Continental League title this fall, the Knights were expecting quite a challenge.
Turns out FHS will have to wait for next week's state tourney for challenges. The Knights won all six finals against Mountain Vista, plus a seventh against Mountain Range at No. 4 doubles to roll to the regional title on their home courts.
"Mountain Vista's had a great year so far," FHS coach Chad Tsuda said. "So we were excited to play them, another conference champion team. So we got pretty pumped for these matches.
"I think based on how everyone played today, I think our confidence has grown. So I think we're just ready to get state going."
The Knights will once again enter state as the team with the best chance to knock off juggernaut Cherry Creek.
The Knights won all seven matches Thursday via sweep, and none of the doubles teams were tested. The closest matches of the day were Eli Winegardner's 6-4, 6-3 win over MVHS' Vignesh Senthilvel at No. 1 singles and Alex Leddon's 7-5, 7-6 triumph over Thomas Van De Pas at No. 3.
The Knights scored 84 team points, 29 ahead of runner-up Mountain Vista.
