Peak to Peak head boys soccer coach Peter Chandler liked his team's chances Friday afternoon in the Class 3A state quarterfinals against Kent Denver, even though their Metro League foes were the top seed in the tournament.

But the still undefeated Sun Devils (17-0-1) tightened the screws on the Pumas early and continued their march into the semifinals with a 4-0 win at Kent Denver, ending Peak to Peak's season at 12-6.

The hosts put two goals past sophomore goalie Nate Fangman within the first 20 minutes of the game, and Peak to Peak's vaunted offense could not pot a counter.

"I think they sent a message to the rest of the state by beating us the way they did," Chandler said. "I actually really liked our chances going in because we had played them to 1-0 this season. The percentages of trying to beat a team twice go down, but they beat us in style, really."

The Pumas advanced to the third round for the second consecutive season, and while there are a number of seniors bidding adieu to the program, Peak to Peak will have plenty of scoring talent back in 2016. That includes junior Miguel Arriaga and sophomore Brendan Lefkowicz.

"We played some great non-league teams this year," Chandler said. "I'm proud of our kids and the character they showed throughout this game and the season."
