First team

BILLY HOWENSTEIN, Fr., Dawson School — Youngster proved cool under pressure all year, medaling three times in tournaments leading up to a fifth-place finish at the 3A state meet.

DANIEL PEARSON, Jr., Fairview — Finished second in the Front Range League in stroke average, but more importantly his finish at regionals (a playoff win) and state (12th in 5A) solidified his season.

ALEC POORMAN, Sr., Boulder — A 75 at Flatirons was his FRL throwout round to determine league champ (he finished third), and the senior finished 28th at state.

JACKSON SOLEM, Jr., Silver Creek — The Class 4A state champion took advantage of a familiar course as the only player under par, but he also was a regional champ and Northern League scoring champ. His consistency earned him player of the year honors.

SAM TAYLOR, Jr., Peak to Peak — Taylor won the 3A state tournament by nine strokes, putting a cap on a season in which he averaged 72.8 strokes a round. He was medalist or co-medalist in five tournaments and shot 69 three different times.

COACH — John Thornbury, Peak to Peak: Led the Pumas to the 3A state team title with three sophomores and a junior.
