Even though it's nearly June, Colorado's fickle spring weather continues to cause problems for scheduling and prep sports.

Now the weather is holding up some of the state's most popular sports completing their respective seasons. With a rain and snow storm rolling in earlier than expected on Wednesday night, both track and field and baseball have had to make new arrangements for this weekend's events.

Despite originally expecting to get in at least the morning events of Day 1 completed, track and field has already been forced to change the three-day state championship meet into a two-day meet that will be held Saturday and Sunday. The Colorado High School Activities plans to release a revised schedule of events on Thursday afternoon.

In baseball, all state tournament games for 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A that were scheduled for Friday have been postponed because of unplayable field conditions.

The 3A and 4A tournaments will not resume until Monday, the 5A tournament has been moved to Sunday and Monday, and the 2A tournament has been pushed back to Saturday, according to a release on CHSAANow.com.

State swim championships in both 4A and 5A remained scheduled, as originally planned, for Friday and Saturday.

Several state semifinals in girls soccer and boys lacrosse were also suspended mid-game on Wednesday night. In the BoCoPreps.com area, Dawson School and Front Range Christian will resume their scoreless 2A semifinal game at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Englewood High School.
