If you follow Boulder youth sports, you may already know the name Shane Provost. He is a highly touted running back/linebacker for the Boulder Bears and will soon likely be making his mark at Boulder High.
Provost, an 8th-grader, recently competed for Team Colorado in the Texas School of Football International Tournament, which was held down in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex from Feb. 18-21. Several teams from all over the country as well as Canada converged for the event and Provost certainly held his own as Colorado went 1-1 against Canada.
Official statistics were not available, but Shane's father Matthew said he ran for over 100 yards in one of the games and played middle linebacker in both contests over the weekend.
It's pretty elite competition, and hopefully it's a sign of things to come for coach Bob Simmons and the Panthers.
