Four local prep athletes have been named among 185 national finalists for the Positive Coaching Alliance's Triple-Impact Competitor scholarship, an award the organization gives to recognize athletes for their personal mastery, leadership and honoring of the sport they play.
Boulder's Kobi Boynton, Silver Creek's Danielle Berning, Broomfield's Porter Milner and Nederland's Quin Kuechenmeister are four of the 10 Colorado finalists, and they will be honored Thursday night at a dinner and awards presentation at Mile High Station in Denver.
Up to $10,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to select athletes who best exemplify PCA's model of the Triple-Impact Competitor. That model includes making oneself better, making one's teammates better and making the game better.
The dinner will be emceed by Susie Wargin, and along with the high school athletes, Cherry Creek head football coach Dave Logan and CHSAA commissioner Paul Angelico will be recognized for their work in high school athletics.
