LONGMONT — After winning at least 15 games each of the past four seasons, the feeling of an 0-4 start to the 2015-16 season for the Raptors was quite nauseating.

It's safe to say Silver Creek's play is now more reflective of the past.

Niwot waltzed into the SCHS gym Saturday looking for its own redemption game after dropping its Northern League opener on Thursday, but the Raptors gathered their bearings in the middle quarters to post a convincing 61-31 win.

Behind Jordan Carter's 18 points, Violet Kennedy's 13 and Kayla Noble's 14, Silver Creek evened its mark to 5-5 and 2-0 in league play.

"I trust my coaches and I trust my teammates to get the job done, and we're really just working together to complete our goals which is so important," said Noble, who like the rest of the team found her range in the second quarter. "We've definitely been working on those things we think can help us, and if we reduce our turnovers — which we still struggle with sometimes — we will be able to play with anyone."

Both teams struggled early, but it was Silver Creek's 17-4 run to close out the first half that really got the hosts ignited. That came after Niwot had closed to within 9-8, and Carter had a pair of 3-pointers in that span while Noble had a couple of strong drives to the hoop.

Kennedy had 10 points in the third quarter, and she also grabbed 13 rebounds overall. The Raptors finished poorly down low in the first quarter but could not have been much better in posting 23 points in the third frame.

"The third quarter was great," Kennedy said. "We were at (a 2-0 game score) for a long time, and I feel that if we can get out running a lot earlier we're going to be a better team. That's when we start to click."

Niwot was led by Alyssa Jenkins' eight points and 11 rebounds. The Cougars had 26 turnovers and made just 11 of 33 free throws, which contributed heavily to falling behind in the second quarter.
