Audrey Cheng, Fairview volleyball: The Knights' junior, perhaps the most versatile setter in the state, was at work all day long Saturday helping Fairview to its first ever volleyball title game. After helping Fairview beat top-seeded Chatfield on Friday, she ran an effective offense to the hitters from pin to pin through 13 sets Saturday, culminating in a runner-up trophy for the eighth-seeded Knights.

Cody Ewing, Broomfield soccer: Ewing got the chance to do what every high school, college and pro soccer star desires once in their life, and that's to knock in an overtime winner for a championship. The senior did so in the 83rd minute of the 5A finale against Mountain Vista, chipping in a title-winning goal off a pass from Luke Cangilla that delivered BHS its second consecutive championship.
